Hello !

Today, I am here to suggest an upgrade to signs.

Right now signs are great, they can be written on with code and read by the codeā€¦ mostly.
You see, while there is a way to read a sign, the code doesn't distinguishes the different lines, and even if it was the case, there is one more issue : the code can tell if a text matches but it can't give you the text written on it. So here are the 2 things that I suggest :

- Give more accuracy to the If Game "If Sign contains Text"
Add an optional number that asks for which line to check, no number means "Check every line"
Example :

Location - Sign location
Text - Text to check for
Number* - Specific line to check (1-4)

- Add a "Set Variable to Line # of Sign"

Set Variable

Set to Text on Sign

Dynamic Variable - Variable to set
Location - Location of the sign
Number - Line to use

Now you may ask "Why do I ask such a random addition ?", it would allow us to make data tables make "variables" in different slots that are more organized and less hard to check than with "/plot vars".

Hope you find my idea interesting.

The only problem here is that now there can be custom commands for non-emperors, because you can check what is written on the sign.

Normally commands would've been the only way to retrieve user-inputted data that is not hardcoded, basically just why we needed them, with this you can make like command chambers where players put signs with the command they want.

Sure, its not as comfortable, but it still decreases the value of commands.

A solution to this would be making it mythic/overlord exclusive though.
(Not Emperor because I think they already have like the most features out of the ranks)

There are not parameters for game values so it can only be a set variable

i agree with RolandMC, the signs can be used as custom commands. so the "Set Variable to # of Sign" should be Emperor+ but hey W h o a r e w e t o j u d g e ? oh wait we are the community.

I like the idea a lot, but I think having a Game Value: Sign Text would be better than a Set Variable scenario here, though I wouldn't know how you could input locations into that. Either way would be a great addition, though!
